The work involved the construction of a Railcar Transfer Facility for Linden Transload Terminal. The project site is located along the Conrail R.O.W and within the Citgo Terminal Yard in Linden, NJ. The purpose of the facility is to transfer ethanol from rail tank cars to storage tanks within this facility. The facility will enable Linden Transload Terminal to unload a unit train (100 tank cars) at one time by providing a transfer area that will accommodate 20 railcars and an adjacent track storage area that will hold an additional 80+/- cars. The transfer area consists of two tracks constructed 24 feet apart by 620 feet long. The structure is centered between the tracks has a 4 +/- foot reinforced concrete trench located below to house the piping system that will transfer the ethanol from the railcars to the storage tanks. In addition to the work associated with the unloading rack, the project included the placement of a HDPE Liner and spill containment collection system that was installed under the tracks and loading rack. Ancillary to the construction of the unloading facility was the design and construction of over 2 miles of lead track extending from the Conrail Chemical Coast Line to the Terminal. Start of construction January 2007 - Completion March 2008. |
